I just spoke with Mary's mother and the surgery went well. She made it out of surgery about two hours ago and is in recovery now. The surgeon was able to locate and remove the infection and it had not affected any surrounding organs which was a possible complication. Unfortunately, the surgeon made the decision to conduct a feared adverse procedure which reversed a previous surgery. This will be somewhat of a regression of her overall situation and will require another surgery in 3 - 6 months. Not sure at this point how long she will be admitted at the Mayo.

I spoke with Mary tonight and unfortunately have some information to correct from the last update. The surgeons were not able to salvage the threatened organs which were removed. I will not go into specifics as I would like her to make the information available when she is ready. She can really use all our support right now. The address to send cards and flowers is:

The Mayo Clinic
200 1st St SW, Rochester, MN‎

Mary is doing well in recovery she should be discharged back to BR early next week. She is getting up and walking around the hospital a few times a day. The care she is getting at Mayo is exceptional and the Doctors think she is doing very well in recovery.
