After three admits to the ER in Seattle Mary has decided to voyage back to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She will be traveling there on Thursday May 14 with her Dad to seek the opinion of their expert staff. She is home in Seattle now resting before her trip on Thursday. Mary was discharged from the ER in Seattle this afternoon and is in good spirits. Her Dad will be flying up to Seattle tomorrow night so they can make the trip to Minnesota together. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers this week.

Mary and her dad made it to Rochester, MN yesterday and she should be checking into the Mayo right about now (0900). I will keep this thread updated on any changes. I do not know the mailing address for her room yet.

Hi Mary from the CCFA staff and me personally! Logan was nice enough to share with me your story and both your original blog and this one. I spent some time yesterday pouring through your original entires and they reminded me so much of my experiences with my J Pouch surgeries and although this may sound odd... put a smile on my face. (Many nurses I found at Overlake were also Russian or Spanish, and since I did a stint over the holidays too I spent a lot of time with as I call them, the Ladies of the 4th Floor!)
Anyway, you have an amazing spirit and while I know these times are extremely difficult on you, as well as your friends and family, I'm (and our whole staff here!) truly pulling for you and wishing you the best of luck on your journey at the Mayo Clinic.

Mary and her dad are staying at the Travelers Hotel this week. Currently, she is being treated as an outpatient and will be doing various tests next week in attempts to better diagnose the problem and decide on a treatment plan. Well the long week of tests and waiting is over and now it’s time to move to the treatment phase. It looks like Mary is going to be admitted into the Mayo Clinic tomorrow and will go in for yet another surgery shortly thereafter. The surgeon wants to remove a small abdominal abscess and place a drain on a second abscess. There are some possible undesirable outcomes of the surgery so we are tying to stay positive and hope for the best and a swift recovery. Please keep Mary in your thoughts next week.

Update 4:
Mary will be discharged from Mayo today (Sat 5/23). The surgery has been delayed until June 4th or 5th. Not sure yet if she will stick around Rochester or go elsewhere for the next ten days.

Update #5:
Mary is headed back to Baton Rouge for the time before her next surgery to be with her family. She will then fly back to Rochester, MN for her next surgery at the Mayo on June 4th.
